The Leeds United managerial saga took another twist this evening with Gianfranco Zola being ruled out of the running, along with Paolo Di Canio who was ruled out earlier today according to representatives of both men.
Zola and Di Canio had both been high in the betting over recent days to take over from Brian McDermott who left Elland Road last week by mutual consent. Neither man has been approached by Massimo Cellino according to their agents.
Zola has strong links with Cellino after playing for the new Leeds United owner at Cagliari.
Di Canio’s representative Phil Spencer told the Yorkshire Evening Post “It’s silly to speculate and we’re being asked every day about this club and that club. Every club knows where we are but I haven’t been approached by Leeds.”
Whilst Zola’s agent Fluvio Marrucco said “Zola never has been approached by Leeds United.”
