Aston Villa made it three wins on the bounce last night as they put Nottingham Forest to the sword, winning 3-1 at the City Ground.

Midfielder John McGinn was the hero this time, levelling things in the seventh minute after Jack Colback had given the hosts the lead.

And the Scot doubled his tally to edge Dean Smith’s side in front just seven minutes later, firing home brilliantly from long range.

Martin O’Neill’s side pushed hard for an equaliser in the second half, but on the hour mark centre-back Kortney Hause made the points safe with his first goal for Villa.

It was a match that also saw another start for winger Andre Green since he returned from his loan spell with Portsmouth.

Ever since, he has become an increasingly important member of Dean Smith’s side, and famously scored a late equaliser in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Sheffield United back in February.

And his post-match comments attracted plenty of plaudits for his own performance…
