Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert has given his opinion on the West Brom squad ahead of his side's trip to the Hawthorns this weekend, as his side desperately try and get out of their relegation predicament in the Championship.

Lambert is quoted via the official Ipswich Town Twitter account as stating that “West Brom’s squad is incredibly strong. It’s a Premier League squad & Darren Moore has done very well. I don’t think they’ll be far from automatic promotion.”

So is Lambert right in his opinion of the West Brom squad?

“No. They’ve got maybe 75% of one, but the edges are a little frayed.

“There’s a certain reliance on aging players in key positions.

“They’re also a full back short of the top flight too.

“If Lambert thinks that squad is good enough for the top flight, it’s no surprise his Stoke team were relegated.”

“They basically are, as West Brom didn’t sell many of their players in the summer and have loaned from top-flight clubs, too.

“So, in that respect they are, but the way the league has moved forward, they would be a struggling Premier League side as it’s the same players basically that sent them down.

“If there was a division in the middle of those two, it suits them the best.”

"You've got to agree.

"On paper, this Baggies eleven wouldn't look out of place in the lower reaches of the Premier League, so it's a fair comment.

"Automatic promotion looks a tough ask for Moore's men now, but they'll be looking for three points this weekend,".
