Bolton's home game against Ipswich on Saturday has been thrown under serious threat following a critical failure of the IT systems at the University of Bolton Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The match, which sees the Championship's bottom two sides go head to head, had previously been thrown into major doubt after Bolton had their safety certificate for the stadium withdrawn earlier in the week, as the club battled a winding up hearing in court.

The game then looked set to go ahead after that certificate was restored and the hearing adjourned until 8th May as the club search for a buyer, but Friday's news means the game is now once again in doubt.

A statement issued on Bolton's official club website on Friday said: "Due to a critical failure of the stadium’s IT system, Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship match against Ipswich Town at the University of Bolton Stadium is in doubt.

"Engineers will be working through the night to resolve this issue and the club will provide an update at the earliest available opportunity."

With this the latest in a long line of setbacks facing the two clubs, many fans of both Bolton and Ipswich could only joke about the situation, while others questioned how it could be allowed to happen in the first place.
