Queens Park Rangers’ inconsistency has seriously cost Ian Holloway’s side this season, with sporadic results limiting the R’s to eighteenth place.

Battling back to a fantastic 2-2 draw against Brentford on Monday evening with two goals in stoppage time, many will have looked to the comeback as a potential turning point in the club’s season, but defeat to Preston on Saturday undid their efforts in the week.

An early red card for Jamie Mackie left QPR under the cosh at Deepdale, with West London hearts broken in the 88th minute when Preston forward Jordan Hugill finally broke the deadlock to give the home side the three points.

Rangers offered nothing following Mackie’s early dismissal, with Alex Baptiste joining his teammate for an early bath in added time.

Holloway’s men are now just six points away from the bottom three, and chairman Tony Fernandes took to Twitter to rue his side’s luck in the close defeat.
