Aston Villa’s Scott Hogan is edging his way back into first-team contention, after the striker missed the opening months of the new season through injury.

A groin problem has been the latest injury to keep Hogan sidelined, with the 26-year-old only recently returning to training.

Hogan has taken to Twitter today to share an image of himself in training, as the striker steps up his recovery.

Steve Bruce has confirmed that Hogan isn’t likely to be involved at Bristol City this weekend, as he takes his side south to Ashton Gate with Villa in desperate need of a victory.

Villa are sitting in mid-table and suffered a disappointing defeat to Sheffield Wednesday last time out.

That defeat put more pressure on Bruce, who will be desperately looking for three points at Bristol City to get some supporters back on board.

As expected, there was a strong reaction to Hogan’s tweet, with the animosity at Villa Park evident in some responses…
