The January transfer window is among us, and it will prove to be a critical time for many Championship clubs, with Millwall being no exception.

The Lions will be encouraged by the progress seen under Gary Rowett in his two-and-a-half months in charge, as the team sit just one point and one position off the play-offs.

There is still a lot to play for during the second half of the season, and Millwall will want to keep their momentum going.

Many rumours have flown around of potential incomings and outgoings at The Den during January, and here are two that are looking increasingly likely...

Young winger could arrive

The club have been linked with Tottenham Hotspur winger Jack Clarke in the last week, as Spurs have said that they want to send the 19-year-old back out on loan after a disappointing spell at Leeds United during the first half of the season.

QPR and Millwall have reportedly shown interest in Clarke during the window, and Gary Rowett has put on record that he would be a good fit at The Den and that he is an admirer of his.

There are a number of issues that come into play when getting a potential deal over the line, however.

Clarke will want assurances of regular first-team football, which may be a challenge at Millwall, and the club will also have to fend off interest from a number of other teams in the Championship.

29-year-old striker departs

Rumours were rife in the summer that Tom Elliott would leave The Den after falling out of favour at the club, with Ipswich almost securing his signature in the summer.

Although he has struggled with injuries this season, Elliott has made one appearance for the club in 2019-20 in the Carabao Cup.

On Thursday, rumours surrounding the 29-year-old's future were decided, as the club released Elliott from his contract, with the striker signing for League Two side Salford City.

It brings an end to two-and-a-half seasons at the club. Elliott made 67 appearances in total, scoring ten times.
