Liam Walsh has been one of Coventry City's star performers so far this season as his displays have lit up League One, and he will surely be wanting to remain with the club beyond January.

The 22-year-old is currently out on loan with the Sky Blues from Championship side Bristol City after failing to break through at Ashton Gate and struggling to get game-time, but he is starting to excel a league below as Coventry fans are mesmerised by the young midfielder.

Walsh has been playing football with a smile on his face after a tough time with Lee Johnson's City side so far since signing in 2018, and despite the Robins manager being a huge admirer of the talent that Walsh possesses, he has sent the midfielder out on loan to get used to senior football on a regular basis.

Just last week, City assistant manager Dean Holden admitted that Walsh's loan move would be enough for him to be within the reckoning at Ashton Gate, and with a January recall clause in the season-long loan deal, Walsh will be keen to remain with Coventry for the second half of the season.

While the small midfielder has the ability to break through at Ashton Gate and really push for a place in their matchday squad, he will be more than happy to be guaranteed a spot in the starting eleven for Coventry this season.

The former Everton youngster will be seeing the Coventry loan as a test of his real capabilites when playing every week, and he is passing that test with flying colours so far as he keeps up his superb form.

Walsh heading back to Ashton Gate in January could only curtail his development, as he would be forced to fight for a place in City's midfield alongside some other talented midfielders such as Kasey Palmer, Josh Brownhill, Callum O'Dowda, Adam Nagy, Han-Noah Massengo and Korey Smith.

The central midfielder will want to stay with Coventry for the rest of the season and see where next summer, as well as next season, takes him as he continues to make a name for himself.
