Bristol City centre-back Taylor Moore could be set for a loan move away from Ashton Gate until the end of the season as the transfer deadline rapidly approaches.

Moore has been a regular in the first-team squad this season, benefitting from injury to Thomas Kalas, making 21 appearances in the Championship so far this season and scoring one goal.

But Gregor MacGregor of The Bristol Post has now reported that the club could be willing to let him leave on loan.

QUIZ: Can you name these 14 Bristol City players just by looking at the clubs they have played for?

MacGregor has also reported today that the club are looking to sign promising Chelsea centre-back Ethan Ampadu before the deadline, which could well relate to Moore's potential departure.

Since arriving at Ashton Gate back in 2016, the 22-year-old has racked up 31 appearances with the 2019/20 season looking like a breakthrough campaign for him.

In other Bristol City news, Burnley striker Nahki Wells is on the brink of completing his move to the club with Josh Brownhill poised to go the other way, although the two deals are not related.

The verdict

I can't help but think this would be a rather reckless move from The Robins.

Moore has been a solid presence at the back when called upon this season so I would warn against being so hasty in shipping him out on loan at the drop of a hat.

Ampadu may adapt brilliantly to the Championship and become a season-changing presence for City. On the other hand, he may not, and he might even struggle badly with the intensity.

So keeping Moore on the books is surely the best thing to do.
