Having been picked up by Liverpool as a 14-year-old from West Brom’s academy, young forward Jerome Sinclair opted to part ways with the Anfield side in search of first-team football, and a move to Premier League Watford in 2016 followed.

Despite showing promise, Sinclair has hit a similar brick wall at Watford, and was loaned out to Birmingham City in the second half of the 2016/17 season, making five league appearances for the Blues.

The return of five appearances across his four month spell was disappointing, with The Hertfordshire Mercury summarising Sinclair’s loan spell as ‘talented, but needs to play regular football’.

Another loan move looks certain for the 20-year-old in the coming months, and Sinclair and his club must make the correct decision this summer in order to secure the youngster the minutes he deserves, needs, and quite frankly, craves.

Sinclair will hope to drop no further than the Championship, but finding a club where he will be afforded the opportunities to impress are few and far between.

One club however, who have placed great faith in youngsters in the past season are Nottingham Forest, who will play in the second tier once again next year after escaping relegation on the final day of the season.

New boss Mark Warburton has a history of developing young players, and with rising stars such as Ben Brereton, Zach Clough and Joe Worrall already impressing at the City Ground, Sinclair could use his fellow young stars as a marker from which to challenge and improve himself.

Competing against those of a similar age with similar aspirations could give Sinclair an added incentive to impress, and Warburton could build his squad around the up and coming talent on the books at the Nottingham based club.
