The downfall of Sunderland in recent years was certainly surprising to see, but under Jack Ross this season, the Black Cats are looking on course for an immediate promotion back to the Championship.

The club suffered back to back relegations, and now find themselves in League One, with their demise coming as a shock to the majority of the football world.

Sunderland announced today that it was four years ago today when they announced the signing of striker, Jermain Defoe, who went on to have a successful spell with the Black Cats.

Defoe went on to score 37 goals in 93 appearances across a three-year-spell, and was one of the rare bright sparks in dismal looking time for Sunderland recently.

The veteran striker has since joined Rangers on loan for the rest of this season where he'll be looking to find regular game time after being frozen out at Bournemouth.

But how did Sunderland supporters react to this latest milestone?
