Jonny Williams has provided a fresh update as he starts his recovery from a knee injury he suffered during Charlton's 3-0 victory over Derby last weekend.

The midfielder was forced off in the first half of the clash with the Rams and he will now miss around two months of action, after previously featuring heavily during the opening weeks of Charlton's season.

Lee Bowyer's side have made an impressive start to life in the Championship following their promotion from League One last term, and Williams has been a key part of this success having made 12 appearances to date.

However, Bowyer will now need to cope without the Welsh international until around the festive period, with Williams joining the likes of Lyle Taylor and Ben Purrington on the injury list at The Valley.

Williams has now taken to Instagram following his knee operation on Tuesday to reveal that the operation was a success, and that he will not be working hard to get back to the same level he has been playing at so far this term.
