Manchester United winger Daniel James scored an emotional debut goal at Old Trafford on Sunday, which has drawn a proud response from many Swansea City fans.

James joined United in the summer in a deal worth £15 million and was quick to make his mark for the club.

The Welshman added the Red Devils’ fourth in their 4-0 opening weekend win against Chelsea, scoring just seven minutes after coming on a substitute.

It looked a particularly emotional moment for the 21-year-old, whose father tragically died just before his move to the Premier League club.

James had something of a whirlwind breakthrough season for Swansea in 2018/19.

The left-winger had made just one appearance for the South Wales club before the start of the season but became a key player under Graham Potter, finishing the season with five goals and 10 assists in 38 appearances.

James joined Swansea in July 2014, making the switch from the Hull City academy.

He developed through the under-18 and under 23 sides, and spent a brief spell on loan with Shrewsbury Town, before making his debut in February 2017–grabbing a goal after coming on as a substitute against Notts County.

Despite seeing the Welshman leave the club in the summer, it seems many Swansea fans were full of pride after seeing James score against Chelsea on debut.
