Billy Sharp was the star of the show last Saturday as his Sheffield United team downed his former club Leeds 2-1 at Bramall Lane.

The 32-year-old forward scored a brace to seal the three points for Chris Wilder's side, and his first goal in particular was certainly one to remember.

Sharp did of course spend the 2014/15 season at Elland Road, before he was moved on to the Blades.

Is it fair to say that Leeds have made a mistake letting go of Sharp?

We discuss....

Adam Simeoni

Yes and no. Sharp has been prolific almost everywhere he has been, besides Leeds United.

The move just didn't work out and management at the times decided to move the player on.

Sharp has obviously gone on to reach unprecedented levels since his departure, and it is understandable if a tinge of regret exists amongst fans.

Sam Preston

Looking back on it, you'd have to say yes. Leeds lack leadership and goals and Sharp has provided both at Bramall Lane for three years now.

Obviously, Sheffield United is Sharp's boyhood club so whether he would have made quite the same impact at Leeds is hard to tell but when Leeds have sold someone who offers qualities they sorely lack to a local rival, questions have to be asked.

George Dagless

It's hard to say.

Leeds have gone through a lot of players and so they'll have probably thought this about a number of them.

I think Sharp going was probably for the best, though, as I'm not sure if he'd have enjoyed the success he has with the Whites.

Alfie Burns

It’s easy to say that with hindsight, but realistically it never worked for Sharp at Elland Road.

Sheffield United’s system suits, whereas I don’t think Leeds’ formation does.

Leeds definitely miss a player of Sharp’s quality, but when he left Elland Road, it was the right time for him to leave.
