Bristol City shocked the world last night with victory over Manchester United, with Korey Smith’s late goal sending the Robins through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
Lee Johnson’s side entered the record books as the first Football League outfit to defeat Premier League opposition in four consecutive rounds of the competition, and fans will relish the opportunity to make it five in a row, when the Robins take on Manchester City in the next phase.
Defender Joe Bryan opened the scoring with a fantastically taken strike, before the hosts were pegged back by a Zlatan Ibrahimovic free-kick.
However Smith struck in the added time to provide the Robins with a historic win, and fans will remember this day for the rest of their lives.
Goalkeeper Luke Steele was in inspired form against his former side, making a string of fine saves to keep the Robins’ hopes alive.
The 33-year-old took to Twitter to celebrate the famous win…
Incredible, mate. Glad our practice paid off.
