Aston Villa have been in dismal form as of late, and haven’t tasted victory for over a month following defeat at Brentford on Boxing Day.

Steve Bruce’s side looked poor and devoid of ideas at Griffin Park, and were duly dispatched by an impressive Brentford side in difficult conditions in West London.

Rain lashed down in the build-up to kick-off and for much of the ninety minutes, but it was the hosts who adapted to the environment, with goals from Romaine Sawyers and Lasse Vibe either side of a Josh Onomah equaliser ensuring the points remained in the capital.

Villa winger Jack Grealish continued his comeback from a kidney injury, and looked solid on the wing for the travelling Villains.

The player had missed much of the first-half of the campaign having ruptured his vital organ in the preseason clash with Watford, but appears to now be returning to full-fitness.
