Charlton Athletic rather disappointingly came away with no points are Crewe Alexandra yesterday evening, with David Artell’s side running out as 2-1 winners.
Oliver Finney tapped in from close-range to give the hosts the lead in the 38th minute before Mikael Mandron doubled Crewe’s advantage on the stroke of half time.
Mason Burstow halved the deficit in the 80th minute when he nodded in after Conor Washington’s initial effort was parried away, with the 18-year-old netting the first league goal of his career.
Quiz: Can you name which club Charlton Athletic signed these 28 midfielders from?
The Addicks thought they had restored parity in stoppage time when Elliot Lee’s deflected effort found the back of the net via the crossbar, but after a lengthy discussion with the linesman, referee Rob Lewis decided the goal would not stand due to an adjudged offside in the build-up play.
Burstow’s performance, after coming on in the 58th minute, proved to be one of a very limited number of positive notes that Johnnie Jackson will take away from Cheshire with him.
Defeat for the Addicks was their third in as many League One outings, with their chances of troubling the play-offs diminishing.
Here, we take a look at how Charlton fans have reacted on Twitter to Burstow’s display against the Railwaymen…

Well done mate, it was good to be there to see your first league goal, hopefully the first of many for us. Unfortunately your team mates were appalling today and badly let us down… again
