Derby County will be hoping for the season to resume as soon as possible as they look to try and nick into the play-off places in the Sky Bet Championship.
Considering some of the off-field issues he has had to deal with, Phillip Cocu has done a fine job in his first season in charge of the Rams and sneaking into the top six would be fine icing on a rather mixed cake of a year.
Certainly, he’s sought to give youth a chance and that is promising for the future of the club, but what about players past that have moved elsewhere?
Here, we’re taking a look at 5 Derby players who now ply their trade at a real variety of sides:
Conor Sammon earned Premier League experience during his time with Wigan Athletic in this country, whilst he played in the Championship with the Rams.
Since then, he has played his football in Scotland, too, with Partick Thistle on his CV.
Currently, he is with Falkirk who challenged for the title in Scottish League One this season.
Nacer Barazite has a very interesting list of clubs to look back on when he hangs up his boots.
He joined the Rams on loan from Arsenal but never made the move permanent, playing for the likes of Austria Wien and Monaco after his time at Pride Park.
Most recently, he’s played for Yeni Malatyaspor, Al Jazira and Buriram United – with the latter his current club in the top flight over in Thailand.
Miles Addison started at Derby but also spent time away on loan at the likes of Barnsley and Bournemouth.
He joined the Cherries on a permanent deal but more loans ensued at Rotherham amongst other clubs.
He was at Kilmarnock in 2016/17 and then joined Nuneaton Borough – where he remains – in 2018.
Conor Doyle didn’t play much for Derby during his time there and moved to the US afterwards where he has spent most of his career.
DC United and Colorado Rapids are among the clubs he has played for whilst he now features for Chattanooga Red Wolves SC who are in the third tier of the game over in the US.
Nick Blackman is well known on these shores given the number of clubs he played for in England.
The likes of Blackburn, Sheffield United and Reading all saw him in their shirts before he joined Derby County – though he wasn’t at Pride Park long.
He was released by the Rams and found himself moving to Israel to play for Maccabi Tel Aviv – where he still plays now.
