Cardiff City have had their fair share of players that have come and gone at the club over the years.

The Bluebirds have been playing their football in both the Premier League and the Championship, although they're now in the second tier under the management of Neil Harris.

Cardiff are sat ninth in the Championship table, but are just two points adrift of the play-off places with nine games remaining in this year's campaign.

However, due to recent off-the-field events, that push for a top-six finish has been put on hold for the time being, with no scheduled return date in place as of yet.

We take a look at FIVE former Cardiff City players who you might be surprised as to where they're playing their football nowadays.

Find out who they are, below....

Steven Caulker - Alanyaspor

Caulker signed for Cardiff City from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2013 for a club-record fee at the time.

His spell with the Bluebirds was brief though, as he signed for QPR just a year later.

But Caulker's career has taken an interesting turn, with the centre-back now playing his football with Turkish side Alanyaspor.

Cameron Jerome - Goztepe

Jerome signed for the club in 2004, and scored 25 goals in 76 appearances for the club, before departing in favour of a move to Birmingham City in 2006.

He's now playing his football in Turkey though, with Goztepe. Jerome has netted nine goals for them, and has previously been linked with a return to England according to Turkish media outlet A Spor.

Jay Bothroyd - Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo

Bothroyd had an impressive goal record for Cardiff City whilst they were in the Championship, with the forward scoring 45 goals in 133 appearances for the club.

He left the club after failing to agree a new deal in the summer of 2011. Bothroyd is still playing to this day, and is currently with Japanese side Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo.

Jordon Mutch - Aalesunds FK

Mutch had a two-year spell with Cardiff from 2012-2014, after arriving from Birmingham City, who were struggling with financial difficulties at the time of his departure.

The midfielder has had a surprising career path since though, and has previously played for both Vancouver Whitecaps and Gyeongnam FC.

But he is currently with Swedish club Aalesunds FK, after signing for them in February 2020.

Adam Le Fondre - Sydney FC

Le Fondre signed for Cardiff City from Reading in the summer of 2014.

He scored three goals in 25 appearances for the Bluebirds, before leaving them in 2017, where he later joined Bolton Wanderers.

But Le Fondre is now playing his football in Australia with Sydney FC, and has been hugely impressive in his time with the club. The forward has scored 41 goals in 59 appearances for them, as they edge closer to a league title this term.
