Preston North End have been play-off challengers for the duration of this season but their hopes have been fading away in recent weeks.

Alex Neil will be looking to his players to step up, then, but in the meantime, we've been looking at where some of their former players have ended up since leaving Deepdale.

Here are five men at a variety of different clubs...

Welsh enjoyed a prolonged period of time at Preston but left for Grimsby a couple of years ago.

He wasn't at the League Two side long, though, and is now playing his football for Atherton Collieries.

Chris Humphrey was another to have played a fair few times for North End over the years but now he finds himself in Scotland.

He played for East Kilbride and Gretna 2008 before moving to Kelty Hearts who play in the Scottish Lowland League. They were declared champions in 2020.

Darren Carter joined Preston North End from West Bromwich Albion and was at the club around the start of the last decade.

He left for Millwall on loan and on his return North End released him.

After pitching up at Cheltenham Town, he's played for Northampton and Forest Green whilst he is now at Solihull Moors.

Laird arrived from Stevenage and has spent most of his career in the lower leagues of the EFL.

Spells at Scunthorpe, Forest Green and Walsall have all come and gone and he now plays non-league football for south-west side Weston-Super-Mare.

Neil Kilkenny has played for the likes of Leeds, Bristol City and Birmingham as well as North End, but now finds himself on the other side of the world.

He joined Melbourne City from Preston a few years back, and is now at Perth Glory who play in the Australian A-League.
