New Derby County manager Philip Cocu could be looking to exploit his Dutch links as the Rams look to make a move for PSV Eindhoven attacking midfielder Bart Ramselaar, who is surplus to requirements at PSV and has been told he can leave, according to Dutch media outlet Eindhovens Dagblad.

Ramselaar, 23, has been at PSV since 2016 scoring six goals in 58 appearances, having previously spent a season at Utrecht where he scored six goals in 42 appearances.

So would Ramselaar prove a good signing for the Rams?

We discuss.........

Chris Gallagher

"You have to trust Cocu on this one.

"Ramselaar was an extremely exciting prospect when he joined PSV a few years ago, however a combination of injuries and the emergence other midfielders in Eindhoven have limited his game time since the current Rams boss left.

"So, a move would certainly suit the player and as mentioned, you have to back Cocu on this one.

"He has worked with the player over the years and there's no doubt that if he can settle to English football then the 23-year-old will add a lot to the Rams XI.

"Capable on the ball, he is the sort of midfielder that will help implement the possession-based style of play that the new manager wants."

George Brooks

"This could be a very good signing for Derby.

"Ramselaar is an attacking midfielder and Derby could do with some more strength in that position having just lost Mason Mount and Harry Wilson.

"He has clearly got a lot of potential and Phillip Cocu already knows him well having signed him for PSV.

"The Derby boss should be able to get the best out of him as he looks to adapt to English football.

"On top of that, Derby will be hoping to challenge for promotion from the Championship next season, so Ramselaar's experience of winning the Eredivisie with PSV could be very important.

"PSV seem keen to want to move him on this summer, so that could mean that Derby are able to get him for a good price, so it's definitely a deal worth going for."

Ben Lang

"I really like the idea of this signing, and it is already an example of Phillip Cocu using his contacts in the game to engineer transfer business.

"Ramselaar is an exciting attacking midfielder who played regular football under Cocu at PSV, which means he would easily adapt to the new Derby boss' playing style and should know his role in the side.

"This quick adaptation period would help Ramselaar significantly in getting used to English football, and it also suits Derby with the Championship season drawing ever closer.

"I think this could be an excellent move if it is on a permanent deal and Ramselaar is given time to develop. I'm not sure how beneficial a loan move would be, but PSV may be reluctant to get rid of him. He is a player who is not quite good enough for PSV at present, but could easily blossom in the coming years."
