‘You have to feel sorry for him’ – Worry for Derby County star: The verdict

Published

on

Derby County skipper Curtis Davies made his first start for the club in three months in the 3-1 win over Birmingham City at the weekend, but his return was marred by an injury scare on the hour.

Davies, 33, went down after a run-in with visiting striker Che Adams, but was able to see out the 90 minutes after lengthy attention by the medical staff.

But does this scare for Davies just a signal that his time at Derby may be coming to an end?

We discuss…..

Jay Taylor

You would have to imagine that at present Frank Lampard is planning his side without the defender.

Richard Keogh and Fikayo Tomori have stuck up a fine partnership at the back and the longer that Curtis Davies is out, the harder it will be to find a way back into the team.

With his age, too, I could see the Derby man moving on either in January or in the summer.

Gary Hutchinson

Yes, I think so.

Derby are moving on up and there’s going to be some casualties.

When injuries start coming thick and fast into your thirties, it’s time to focus on the future.

Davies is a good pro and will surely have an eye on coaching or maybe even management.

George Harbey

I think he’s certainly nearing the end, you have to feel sorry for him.

After yet another injury it’s highly unlikely that he’ll make a return to the team anytime soon, especially with the form of Tomori and Keogh this season.

At 33, he isn’t getting any younger and he should look to move in January.
