It must be a tough time to be a Bolton Wanderers fan at the moment.

The side currently sit rock bottom of the Sky Bet Championship having amassed a mere two points from 11 league games so far this season.

Phil Parkinson has a thankless task on his hands, and it seems that it will take a miracle to keep the Trotters in the second tier.

The writers here at Football League World have had their say on manager Phil Parkinson....

Alfie Burns

Despite Bolton’s troubles, sacking Parkinson is unthinkable, due to the job the 49-year-old has done since his arrival at the Macron Stadium.

Parkinson lead Bolton out of League One last season, and has been working with his hands tied behind his back for a lot of his time in Lancashire, which highlights just how impressive he has been.

Parkinson might not be able to prevent Bolton from slipping back into League One again, but he shouldn’t be axed, as the club will be better off trying to build on the foundation of consistency in the dugout.

George Dagless

You have to feel sorry for him.

It's hard to see who could come in and do a much better job.

The Trotters were always going to be up against it this season and so that is proving with them rock bottom. With the way the game is these days, though, I think there'll be a change soon - I'm just surprised they didn't sack him before the international break.

Adam Simeoni

Parkinson is on a knife edge.

The former Bradford boss delighted fans and the board by brining Bolton straight back up following their relegation, but it is clear the squad assembled this summer is simply not good enough for the Championship.

Whether fault lies with the manager or the board is questionable, but it is the man in the dugout who will be served his marching orders for poor results.

Will 100% be gone by Christmas.

Chris Gallagher

Would Jose Mourinho keep Bolton up? Phil Parkinson has the worst squad in the division because of events that were out of his control this summer.

The transfer embargo meant that the Trotters have a third tier side in a league where teams can spend £15m on one player.

That's not to say he doesn't deserve criticism for certain aspects, they should be more competitive and to not have scored a goal since August 22 is crazy.

But ultimately, Bolton are going down to League One whoever is in charge, where Parkinson will excel.
