After two seasons in the top six, Sheffield Wednesday will have felt incredibly hard done by last season.

A succession of injuries left their squad decimated and their summer transfer business turned out to be folly, with £10m Jordan Rhodes at the head of the failure queue.

Jos Luhukay has been very quiet through the summer, Atdhe Nuhiu has signed a new deal but Jack Hunt and Rhodes have left. With such little movement in the transfer window one can only assume he's relatively happy with the current squad.

It's a fair decision, were it not for the injuries Wednesday would surely have been challenging the play off spots and perhaps they're happy to rely on those same players remaining fit this season. Fernando Forestieri and Gary Hooper haven't become bad players over night, both can influence the new campaign in a positive way.

There's also a crop of players likely to come good, players emerging form the youth ranks who are rightly raising eyebrows and optimism of a break through. FLW gets the feeling these two young players in particular are poised to shine in the coming campaign.

Borukov is a striker with a growing reputation amongst those close to the Owls. He's a target man who can hold up the ball as well as create chances, very much like Nuhiu and Hooper.

He joined Wednesday from Levski Sofia and has been capped by Bulgaria at Under-16, 17 and 18 level.

Clare has just four starts under his belt for the Owls, all coming after his loan spell with Gillingham ended last season.

The 21-year old graduated from the Nike Academy and started 20 games for Gillingham in League One last season. He's surely ready for a stab at first team football for Luhukay this time around.
