Garry Monk will want to make his mark on this team in the summer transfer window.

The Blues manager has to ensure they don't get relegated first, though, because they are currently in 20th place with a two-point gap on Burton in the last relegation place. However, they have the tough task of getting a result from in-form Fulham.

Bolton are the only side below them that has a potentially winnable fixture because they play Nottingham Forest at home while all the other teams play sides in and around the top six.

Birmingham have significant financial resources compared to some of the other teams in the division even if it hasn't been spent wisely previously, so Monk has the potential to improve the squad in the summer. Here are three players that could come in...

Gallagher is yet to score since Monk came in, although an injury has limited him in this regard. He is on loan from Southampton, but they could be persuaded to sell him because they have a wealth of talent in that position even if they do have goalscoring issues.

His record at the Birmingham isn't the best because he has six goals in 32 league appearances, but it is better than Lukas Jutkiewicz who has scored four times in 34 league games. They can provide similar roles as a focal point for the team with Che Adams working off them, but Gallagher provides more of a goalscoring threat.

He would certainly be an improvement on Jutkiewicz, so it would be worth signing him permanently.

Another striker they could bring in is Jack Marriott from Peterborough. He is the top scorer in League One with 27 goals and would provide competition for places in the forward areas.

The Blues have severe goalscoring issues because they have scored the least amount of goals in the division and Gallagher is their top scorer in the league with six goals. Bringing in a confident in-form player should improve that significantly especially with Monk in charge who should know how to get the best out of him.

This should be a priority going forwards in order to help avoid being in a similar position next season and potentially push for the top half of the table and maybe even higher.

Baker was signed on loan from Chelsea when Monk was manager at Middlesbrough, but Tony Pulis hasn't given him the same opportunities as Monk did.

He did lose his place in the starting XI under Monk, but Birmingham lack the depth in central midfield that Boro have, so bringing Baker in would be a cheap way to add depth to the side with a player that Monk knows well.

The 23-year-old is an intelligent midfielder which makes him able to play a variety of roles in the side. He could be used as the attacking midfielder in the side which would suit his ability to link up play and find pockets of space between the lines.
