As we enter the second international break of the season, Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi is bound to delighted at his side's start to the Championship campaign.

After a 1-0 home win over Brentford on Saturday afternoon, the Reds sit level on points with West Bromwich Albion at the top of the league table, and are currently embarking on an unbeaten run of 10 league games.

Having won games in many different ways this season, the East Midlands outfit are looking more and more like promotion contenders by the week, and they will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table after a short break.

It's clear to see that Forest have fantastic squad depth - the likes of Tobias Figueiredo and Chema stepped in for the injured Michael Dawson in midweek with ease, and their midfield is also blessed with a plethora of talented options.

Naturally, because they have such a large squad, it is impossible for Lamouchi to keep every player happy, and whilst their form may be hugely impressive, there will be some players that will still be eagerly awaiting the January transfer window already.

Here, we take a look at two players who look likely to be sent out on loan in the winter...

Jordan Smith

With Brice Samba continuing to keep Aro Muric out of the team, and Costel Pantilimon completely out-of-favour at the City Ground, it looks likely that Smith will be sent out on a temporary basis in January.

The 24-year-old hasn't made a senior appearance for the Reds in over a year, and was sent out on loan to Mansfield Town in the second-half of last season, where he flattered to deceive during his spell at the One Call Stadium.

The shot-stopper made 12 appearances in all competitions for the Stags, but was quickly replaced by Conrad Logan as the East Midlands side were defeated in the League Two play-off semi-finals.

Samba will be number one for the rest of the season, but there is still a talented goalkeeper in Smith, and a successful six-month loan spell away could do him the world of good.

Zach Clough

Whilst the likes of Daryl Murphy, Jason Cummings, Hillal Soudani and Apostolos Vellios all moved away from the City Ground in the summer, Clough - somewhat surprisingly - remained at Forest.

The attacking midfielder has made 31 appearances for the Reds and has scored only four goals since arriving from Bolton Wanderers in 2017, and failed to make any sort of impact on loan at Rochdale last term.

Clough found the net just once in 13 games on loan with Dale, and has now been frozen out on Trentside, with a loan move away looking extremely likely in January.

He will be desperate to impress Lamouchi, and a loan move away could give him the platform to do so.
