Having lost their previous two games in Championship, Birmingham City made a welcome return to winning ways last Friday against Middlesbrough at St Andrew's.

Goals from Fran Villalba and Odin Bailey clinched all three points for the Blues who moved up to 12th in the Championship standings as a result of this particular fixture.

When you consider that Pep Clotet currently has 31 senior players at his disposal, it is clear that certain individuals may find it beneficial to make a temporary exit from the club if they are not playing regular first-team football in the Championship.

Keeping this in mind, we have set out two players who we believe could be loaned out by the Blues during the upcoming January transfer window.

Check them out below...

Connal Trueman

A product of Birmingham's youth academy, Connal Trueman has failed to make any inroads on the club's starting eleven this season.

The goalkeeper, who featured twice for the Blues during the previous campaign, is currently behind David Stockdale and Lee Camp in the pecking order at St Andrew's.

Whilst the latter of the two shot-stoppers has been far from convincing in recent weeks, it is unlikely that Clotet will be willing to give Trueman an opportunity to impress.

Therefore, loaning out the 23-year-old may turn out to be the right decision by the Blues as he could return as a much more accomplished player next summer providing that he features regularly at senior level.

Agustin Medina

Signed by Birmingham City on a two-year deal in July from UE Cornella (via BBC Sport), it is safe to say that Agustin Medina has struggled to make any sort of impact for the club in recent weeks.

Since making his debut in the Blues' 3-0 defeat to Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup, the Spaniard has been forced to watch on from the sidelines by Clotet.

With the likes of Ivan Sunjic, David Davis and Gary Gardner all producing impressive performances in the heart of midfield, Medina may find it beneficial to leave the club on loan in January.

Providing that he can deliver the goods elsewhere on a consistent basis during the second half of the 2019/20 campaign, he could force his way into contention for a place in Birmingham's starting eleven next season.
