‘You get the feeling Pulis doesn’t like him’ – £7.2m-rated star and Middlesbrough: The verdict

When Martin Braithwaite signed for Middlesbrough from Toulouse at the start of last season he was supposed to be the man to help fire them straight back into the Premier League.

But after spending a hefty sum on the striker, it is safe to say he has not returned on the investment.

Even after scoring five goals and assisting two more in the first half of the season, the Dane fell out of favour under Tony Pulis and was loaned back to Ligue 1, this time to Bordeaux.

Here the £7.2m-rated striker scored a further four goals before returning to the Riverside this summer.

But is there a future for the Danish World Cup star in the North East? Is his time at Boro up?

We discuss…

It’s hard to see Pulis giving him another chance.

Boro have a wealth of option in attack, with Braithwaite well down the pecking order.

His departure would help balance Boro’s squad.

Without a doubt, you get the feeling Pulis doesn’t like him.
Pulis moved him on at the first opportunity which says a lot. He clearly isn’t a huge fan of the Denmark international.
Given the fee he could bring in, the boss will want to sell him and reinvest.
Gary Hutchinson
If it is, it is incredibly short-sighted of Tony Pulis. Martin Braithwaite is quality and he could seriously improve Boro’s chances of promotion.
There isn’t a side in the Championship who wouldn’t have him in their first team squad.
George Dagless
I think so.
He’s a good player but Pulis doesn’t really seem to rate him that much.
I’d like to see another Championship side take a gamble on him.
