Reading have made a handful of decent signings this summer as Paul Clement tries to reverse last season's poor form and get his side competing higher up the league table.

The Royals snapped up impressive Coventry City striker Marc McNulty to solve their striker problems, as well as free agents David Meyler - an experienced midfielder - and John O'Shea - who adds depth to the centre-half department.

Andy Yiadom also arrives on a free from Barnsley, providing pace and attacking threat from right-back and the option to play as a winger too.

Clement has a clear vision for the future and he will want to get Reading back competing for promotion, rather than scrapping against relegation as they did towards the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

A few players could be facing the axe this summer after last year's poor showing.

Here are the next two that we expect Clement to get rid of as he continues his squad revamp at the Madejski Stadium.

Defensive midfielder van den Berg could be heading for the exit door, according to recent reports.

The Dutchman has been with Reading for two years but Clement is likely to use younger options.

Meite spent last year out on loan at Sochaux and while Clement will probably run the rule over him in pre-season, you cannot see him staying.

The 22-year-old winger is down the pecking order at Reading and probably needs a move away for his own career's sake.
