Brentford captain Pontus Jansson has there is "something special" about playing for his former club Leeds United but that sometimes it means you don't think clearly.

The Swedish central defender left Leeds last summer to join the Bees, with club finances and Marcelo Bielsa's stance on the player thought to be the motivation for the move.

Jansson's exit was something of a shock as he had become a fan favourite at Elland Road and was an integral figure during his time with the Whites.

It appears he still feels fondly about his former employers as his comments on the Sky Sports EFL Podcast show.

He said: "Playing for Leeds is also, there is something special playing for Leeds. You don’t think clearly sometimes."

Jansson made 120 appearances for the Whites in his three years at the club but was unable to help them secure their long-awaited return to the Premier League – something they did the season after his exit.

The Sweden international will no doubt be hoping that he can lead the Bees to the same achievement this term, as they look to bounce back from last season's frustration.

Which club did Leeds United sign each of these 25 players from?

The Verdict

Jansson had a special relationship with Leeds fans, something that it was clear to see every time he took the field for the Whites, and though it ended strangely it appears he still feels strongly about the club.

Whites supporters will likely love to hear these comments, though they may not be particularly popular among the Brentford faithful.

All will be forgiven if he can take them to the top flight this year, however.
