Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has recently spoken out about his decision to let right-back Ritchie De Laet depart Villa Park on loan.
The Belgian right-back has found his game-time limited at Villa Park this term, after having a promising pre-season campaign.
The former Leicester City defender has recently sealed a loan switch to Australian outfit Melbourne City, after making just two appearances for Villa this season, both coming in the Carabao Cup.
Bruce, speaking in his Blackburn Rovers pre-match press conference, admitted that “it was only right” to let De Laet move on, after what had been a “frustrating time” for the former Leicester City left-back.
“It’s been a frustrating time for him (De Laet) – he suffered a serious injury”.
“I think with the people I have at right-back, it was only right to let him get on with his career”
Here, we take to Twitter, to get the Villa fans’ views on this decision, and Bruce’s comments more specifically…

No it was the right time to play him but you didn’t. It’s not RDLs fault!?

Good luck Ritchie, you deserved a better run in the team.

You mean the centre half that continually plays there?

Best pre-season of all our players, played really well as a right wing back in a back 5 pretty much every game. So what does he do come game 1 ? – revert to a disfunctional back 4 that have never played together and bury De Laet until he can get rid ????
