Charlton Athletic owner Roland Duchatelet has demanded the League One side be purchased by the EFL.
In the latest bizarre move by the estranged owner, he has insisted the EFL purchase the League One club from his control.
That is according to the Independent, who are reporting that the Addicks’ estranged owner is demanding the move happen, and has blamed the governing body of the Football League for the club’s recent demise.
Duchatelet issued a lengthy statement on Charlton’s official website yesterday afternoon blaming the EFL, and requesting they purchase control of the club from him.
His outlandish idea is to hand over the day-to-day operations and losses of the London club for free – preferably to the EFL – but to retain control of the valuable assets, the Valley and the training ground.
It’s a strange turn of events from the Valley outfit, who have taken to social media to express their views on their owner’s most recent brainwave.
With that said, here’s how the Charlton supporters reacted to the statement from Duchatelet.

Good God Almighty! Can you imagine this? The day after the EFL agreed such a deal (although they never would) there'd be 71 other Clubs queueing outside their door shouting "buy us as well!" These people are clowns!

Methinks its time for this owner to join Mr Oyston.

He really doesn’t have any idea. On the flip side we’d get more decisions from the refs…
