Aston Villa's new signing Tyrone Mings made his debut yesterday, helping his side to a clean sheet and a point against struggling Reading.

The draw perhaps favoured the home side who need points in the relegation fight, but they won't have been happy to see their new signing, Nelson Oliveira, taken off with a shocking facial injury.

He was pictured covered in blood in scenes seemingly out of a horror movie after being on the end of a stamp from Mings. Whether it was deliberate or not is up for debate, but whatever the process it was an unsavoury incident to say the least.

Mings took to social media after the game, firstly expressing delight at the clean sheet on his debut, tagging a quick apology to the former Norwich City man on the end. It certainly hasn't gone down well with fans on Twitter, with lots accusing the Villa new boy of doing it deliberately.

Here's a selection of the responses to his apology on Twitter.
