Stoke City manager Nathan Jones has a huge task on his hands this summer, as he looks to freshen up the Potters squad, stamp his own mark on it and prepare a side capable of making a top-six challenge next season.

All players within the Potters ranks must have a long-hard look at themselves, players like winger Tom Ince who scored six goals, in what was a relatively underwhelming season for his standards.

So after what turned out to be a mixed season for the winger, do you think Ince will be a guaranteed starter next season?

We discuss........

Kealan Hughes

"Ince, like many Stoke players, has a lot to prove after a disappointing season last year.

"Nathan Jones may revert back to his tried and tested diamond formation, which worked so well for him at Luton. If that's the case then Ince and the other wingers in the squad may find themselves on the bench, unless Ince features in that no.10 role.

"Also, Jones will want to bring in his own players and since Ince didn't impress under him last season, he could be one of the first names dropped from the starting line-up."

Alfie Burns

"A lot is going to depend on Nathan Jones’ system at Stoke.

"We know that Ince’s best position comes on the right of midfield, but is Jones going to play to suit his style of play?

"A diamond formation has served him well in the past and if that’s the route he goes next season, you doubt there will be room for Ince every week.

"No matter his ability, you can’t force him into the side if he doesn’t fit."

Gary Hutchinson

“No, not at all.

“Nathan Jones is trying to rebuild there, put a fresh side together with a new outlook and approach.

“That could mean lots of the old hands find themselves cast aside.

“Ince hasn’t impressed me one bit this season and I wouldn’t expect him to be a key man.”

George Brooks

"Ince is a very good player at Championship level and I expect him to get another chance at Stoke next season.

"If he can get off to a good start, then I don’t see why he can’t hold down his place in the team.

"A player of his quality should probably be starting every week at this level and it will be a shame for Stoke if he ends up on the bench most weeks."
