Barnsley punched well above their weight in the Championship last season, with the Tykes threatening a place in the top-six for large swathes of the campaign.
This year, reality has set in, and Paul Heckingbottom’s side look like they could be able to embark on a desperate quest to stave off relegation.
Just four points off the drop approaching the halfway stage of the season, the Tykes are in the midst of an abysmal run of form that has seen them lose four on the bounce, with a comfortable 3-1 defeat at relegation rivals Bolton Wanderers a stark reminder of how difficult a task Heckingbottom faces.
Tykes fans will remain confident in their side’s ability to avoid the drop, with summer signings continuing to settle following a complete overhaul of the squad at the end of last season.
One man who probably should not be at the club right now is defender Andy Yiadom, whose move to Premier League Swansea City fell through at the last minute.
With the winter window fast approaching, fans have begun to question the players mentality, with Heckingbottom admitting to journalist Jonathan Buchan that the player was having a physical and mental dip.
Heckingbottom denied the former Barnet man had an eye on a winter move, but fans are not convinced…
So Hecky recognises this yet chooses to play him when we have alternatives. I'm afraid to me it is looking like he has his favourites that will play no matter how poor they perform.

Why play him then??? He wants to go simple as that, we look devoid of ideas, no passion, poor with or without the ball, we’ve lost too many players and it’s showing now

Need to play commited players. If he thinks he is any better than us he's deluded… Bang average

Shouldn't play him then seriously you can tell he don't want to play for us.

Based on his last few games, any plans to take him will surely have been diluted…
