Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres is attracting interest from England's top-flight, with a recent Football League World exclusive revealing that Crystal Palace, Everton, Southampton and West Ham are keeping an eye on the 24-year-old.

Gyokeres has managed nine goals in 19 Championship appearances thus far and is currently the joint-top goalscorer in the division.

It remains to be seen what stance the Sky Blues will hold, with the aforementioned report stating that Coventry want to tie Gyokeres down to a new deal.

Sharing his thoughts on the impressive striker amidst the Premier League interest that he has generated, Carlton Palmer told Football League World"You can see why people are looking at him. Nine goals in 19 games in the Championship this season.

"You never really know whether these players can carry it into the Premier League. You've seen that with Adams who went to Southampton. He scored a hatful of goals in the Championship, the Premier League is a different breed. You don't get as many chances, so you have to be clinical.

"But he's been sought after by a lot of clubs. He's been very important in this recent run. And you know, as I say, nine goals in 19 games, if they were to lose him, then obviously Mark Robins would start looking and saying, 'what's going on?' If they've got young players and they're ambitious, they shouldn't be letting those young players go."

The verdict

Gyokeres is a player of top quality in the Championship and is deserving of an opportunity in the top flight, however, this situation is not as simple as that.

The Sky Blues are pushing for promotion themselves, with Gyokeres set to be a key part of that, whilst three of the four clubs are placed 16th or below in the Premier League as things stand.

As a result of Coventry doing well, and their expected desire to keep hold of the 24-year-old, it is likely that they will slap a huge price tag on the exciting forward.
