Birmingham City have exceeded all expectation this season, putting a horrible summer behind them to hang on to the coat tails of the play-off chasing sides.

They're outside the top six, but within touching distance which is remarkable given their summer transfer ban.

Garry Monk has been forced to work with largely the same squad that only just avoided the drop last season, but has done so admirably.

They've become hard to beat, losing just four in the league all season, which is the same as leaders Norwich City.

They've found a way to win games now too, putting the run of early draws behind them to become an effective, if not spectacular unit.

Their 2-0 win at Millwall last night was typically hard-fought against ten men and afterwards, Garry Monk hailed his players and the fans who travelled to the Den. He posted on social media his delight at winning the game.

That brought the Birmingham fans out in force, all delighted with the progress their side had made under Monk. He's rebuilding his reputation in the best way possible, proving his credentials as a manager.
