Having already secured the services of Joe Edwards, Will Aimson, Danny Mayor and Dom Telford for the upcoming campaign, Plymouth Argyle boss Ryan Lowe has made Callum McFadzean his fifth signing of the summer.

Confirmed by the club's official website, the 25-year-old has joined the Pilgrims on a free transfer after leaving Bury earlier this summer.

A versatile player, McFadzean featured as both a full-back and as a midfielder last season for the Shrimpers with his performances helping the club achieve promotion to the third-tier in May.

By moving to Home Park, McFadzean becomes the fourth player to re-unite with Lowe who left Bury to take-over Plymouth last month who were without a manager since sacking Derek Adams in April.

Although the defender hasn't yet hit the heights which were expected of him since making his Football League debut in 2012 for Sheffield United, he did demonstrate some real signs of promise under the guidance of Lowe during the previous campaign which, if replicated next season, could help the Pilgrims secure a return to League One in 2020.

After the club announced the news of McFadzean's arrival, plenty of Plymouth fans reacted positively on Twitter.

Whereas McFadzean will be representing the Pilgrims next season in the fourth-tier, details of his contract have not been disclosed by his side (via BBC Sport).
