Bolton Wanderers chairman Ken Anderson has recently hit back at Forest Green Rovers chairman Dale Vince, after the deal to sign striker Christian Doidge on a permanent deal fell through.

The Trotters signed the 26-year old forward in the summer on an initial loan deal, that would be made permanent by the Lancashire club in January. But after being hit by a transfer embargo, Wanderers were unable to complete a deal for the Welshman, meaning he has now had to return to the League Two side.

Vince recently hit out at Anderson for the treatment of their star forward, but Anderson has now responded to the Rovers chairman - labeling him as one of the "strangest people" he has met in football.

He said: "Despite what the media and Dale Vince, the chairman of Forest Green Rovers, has said about us being unable to sign players as we are in an embargo, I can confirm that we have had directions from the EFL on how we can sign players."

"As regards Dale l can only say that during my several telephone discussions with him, l have found him to probably be one of the strangest people that l have ever come across in football - and in my 20 plus years in the game, l have met hundreds of players, managers , directors and club owners, so that’s saying something!"

Bolton are currently in turmoil in the Sky Bet Championship, and currently three points adrift of safety in 22nd position, after just one win in their last sixteen games, and whilst a massive game against Bristol City approaches, matters off the pitch are continuing to steal the limelight.
