The Championship resumes this weekend after a two-week hiatus to accommodate the autumn international fixtures.

All five Yorkshire sides are back in action this Saturday with some looking to continue their good form, and others hoping to catch a break and get back to winning ways.

In this week’s round-up, we take a stroll on the cobbled streets of Yorkshire on a whistle-stop tour of news from the teams in the north from the past week.

Out first stop is to Elland Road, with Leeds United midfield and Macedonia international Ezgjan Alioski getting two goals in two games in his countries opening two UEFA Nations League fixtures.

His first was in the win over Gibraltar with the second this delightful penalty in the win over Armenia.

In a slightly bizarre move, Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani presented none other than the Pope with a home shirt from the Elland Road side.

During the international break, the owner visited the Vatican City and offered the shirt to Pope Francis, commenting on Twitter that the club has a ‘very special supporter.’

On the injury front, and it is a massive blow for Patrick Bamford who is set to miss four months of action after suffering a posterior cruciate ligament that he picked up in the U23s win over Bristol City last Friday.

Gaetano Berardi, meanwhile, is also a doubt but Adam Forshaw is in contention to feature.

Moving swiftly on to Rotherham United in what has been a quiet week for the Millers, Semi Ajayi made his international debut for Nigeria this past week.

The Rotherham defender player in the Super Eagle’s African Cup of Nations qualifier win over the Seychelles.

Over to Hull City and the Evandro has won the club’s Goal of the Month award after his sweet strike in the opening game of the season in the defeat to Aston Villa.

Evandro’s goal was the opener on the night before letting the lead slip.

Tigers boss Nigel Adkins took to Twitter after an International break hiatus to inform fans he is ‘refocused’ for the challenges ahead.

To south Yorkshire and the Sheffield clubs now - with Wednesday striker Atdhe Nuhiu getting in goalscoring form ahead of the Championship fixtures this weekend scoring for his native Kosovo.

The match ended in a  2-0 win against the Faroe Islands in the UEFA Nations League.

Sheffield Wednesday have also appointed Andy Holdsworth as the club’s professional development phase manager.

He joins the Owls academy to oversee the development of the different age groups at Hillsborough.

Finally to the Blades where the former defender and now England hero Harry Maguire has revealed how his League One experience with Sheffield United set him on his way to becoming an international stalwart for the Three Lions.

Stepping up his final stage of rehabilitation to get to full fitness, Paul Coutts is set to feature in the Blades U23s match against Charlton Athletic.

The 30-year-old had been out with a severe leg injury, fracturing his tibia back in November last year and is finally nearing full fitness.
