York City receive £3000 boost for academy

York City academy have been given a boost by receiving £3000 that was raised by the Supporters’ trust.

The money is for the running of the academy and former striker and now employed as development consultant, Richard Cresswell who started his career with the Minstermen has welcomed the money.

It takes £350,000 to run the academy every year and every little bit helps, with club legend Andy McMillan now in charge of the running of the youth side at the club.

Richard Cresswell who went from the academy to a successful career, playing for the likes of Leicester City, Preston North-End, Stoke City and Sheffield United said ”We are really grateful for the donation from the Supporters’ Trust towards the substantial running costs of the academy.”

”The success of the academy is vitally important to the future of York City and the hundreds of young players who dream of one day becoming professional footballers.” added Cresswell.
