Nottingham Forest defender Yohan Benalouane has sent a message to the club's supporters ahead of the weekend's Championship clash with Rotherham United.

Martin O'Neill's side kept their play-off hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over Swansea at the City Ground last weekend and are currently ninth in the Championship table, three points outside the top six.

The Reds will be looking to make it back-to-back league wins for the first time since September against the Millers at the weekend and Benalouane has sent a message to the club's supporters ahead of the game.

The Tunisian centre-back thanked the clubs fans for their support and has asked them asked them to keep going, to give the team the best possible chance of making the play-offs.

“If I have a message for the supporters it is to stay with us; to keep going,” said Benalouane, as quoted by the Nottingham Post.

“Because my feeling is that, when we are at home or away, our part of the stadium is always full and you can see the people in red.

“It is important for me to see that. When I am on the pitch and I can see all the Forest supporters around us, it is like you are at home.

“Our supporters are always behind us and it is really important for us.

“If we play with our heart, we can achieve something important for this club. I think they deserve this.”

The Verdict

Benalouane has found himself at fan favourite at Forest since joining the club in January, with his no-nonsense and committed defensive displays on the pitch proving popular with supporters at the City Ground.

It is good to see the centre-back thank fans for their support and he will be hoping that they can continue to play their part as the team make a late push for the play-offs.

With seven games to go, Forest are in a good position in the table, but with so many teams in the play-off mix, they have to start putting back-to-back wins together if they are to stand any chance of making the top six.
