Yoann Barbet shares honest message ahead of QPR’s showdown with Nottingham Forest

Queens Park Rangers defender Yoann Barbet has taken to Instagram to share a message ahead of the club’s clash with Nottingham Forest tomorrow.

The Hoops will be determined to deliver a response to their recent defeats to Peterborough United and Sunderland in Friday’s fixture.

QPR were aiming to book their place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

However, Mark Warburton’s side were unable to break down a resilient Sunderland outfit as the clash was decided by a penalty shoot-out.

Ilias Chair, Charlie Austin and Barbet all missed from the spot as the Black Cats eliminated QPR from the competition.

Currently seventh in the Championship, the Hoops will move above the likes of Middlesbrough, Luton Town and Coventry City in the league standings if they seal all three points in their showdown with Forest.

QPR will know that they cannot afford to underestimate their opponents at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium as the Reds have managed to pick up their performance levels in recent weeks under the guidance of their new manager Steve Cooper.

Ahead of this particular clash, Barbet has revealed on Instagram that he was disappointed by the manner of his side’s recent defeat to Sunderland but is now excited to play in-front of the club’s supporters again.

Who does former QPR man Tom Carroll play for now?

The defender posted: “Disappointed one last night [Tuesday].

“But already another big game under the lights on Friday.

“Can’t wait to see the atmosphere again.”

The Verdict

Whilst Barbet has every right to feel disappointed by QPR’s defeat earlier this week, he will need to dust himself down ahead of Friday’s meeting with Forest.

An ever-present in the Hoops’ starting eleven, the 28-year-old has illustrated his versatility this season by featuring in several positions for his side.

Currently averaging a relatively impressive WhoScored match rating of 6.98 in the Championship, Barbet clearly knows exactly what it takes to compete at this level.

Taking this into consideration, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if the defender produces an assured display against Forest if he is given the nod to start by Warburton in this fixture.
