Sheffield Wednesday forward Fernando Forestieri is set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury against Blackburn Rovers last weekend, report the Sheffield Star.

Scans have revealed that the Italian tore is hamstring muscle after coming on as a half-time substitute at Ewood Park and will now be out of action for at least six weeks.

It means that Jos Luhukay will have yet another missing member of his first-team squad heading into the busy Christmas period.

Forestieri has had a mixed time of it so far this season, showing his best in flashed but not consistently enough, going in and out of the manager's side.

He has scored three goals in 12 appearances, missing matches due to a mix of injury and disciplinary issues.

Wednesday lost 4-2 to Blackburn last weekend to bump them down into 16th in the Championship table, making it six losses in the Owls' last eight matches.

They host 20th placed Rotherham United at Hillsborough this Saturday and will be hopeful of picking up three points against the fellow strugglers.

The verdict

This is another big blow for Jos Luhukay.

Nothing seems to be going his way and it really does seem like a matter of time until he is sacked which, given the horrendous luck he has had with injuries, could be slightly unjust.
