Bolton Wanderers have again been plunged into crisis after hopes of financial aid from the PFA fell through.

According to the Bolton News, a deal with the PFA to facilitate some payment of the player’s wages for last month has had complications and has since fallen by the wayside.

With that deal dead in the water, it leaves many at the club facing being unpaid for a 12th straight day.

The reason given for the break-down in the proposed part-payment of wages was, as also reported by the Bolton News because the players’ union spotted that there was a winding-up order against the club once more.

Chairman Ken Anderson will now need to source an alternative way to be able to pay players and staff members with Christmas a little under two weeks away.

Although a deal was accepted in principle, the black mark on the accounts at the club forced the PFA to pull the plug on the financial bail-out.

This is yet another blow to the club who currently sit second-bottom of the division after an initially strong start to the campaign.

The verdict

Just when Bolton Wanderers think there is a small beam of light at the end of the tunnel, the flame goes out.

This news is indicative of how their season has gone and looks to be as if it is only going one way.

Pre-season set the tone when a failure to be paid on time left the players with no alternative but to revolt as they went on strike ahead of a friendly in July.

Since then league matters started well enough but with things behind the scenes were far from serene, and that soon affected efforts on the pitch.

The failure of payment and subsequent break-down in part-financial aid is yet another strike against the club in what is turning out to be a horror show of a season.
