Derby goalkeeper, Scott Carson has suffered another setback in his recovery from injury, and is expected miss a further two weeks of action.

Rams boss, Frank Lampard revealed to the Derby Telegraph that the shot-stopper is set to be sidelined for a further period of time, in an injury-hit few months for the former England goalkeeper.

"Scott has a small quad injury, so it's hard to give an absolute date but it looks like it will be a week or two, hopefully at the most."

Carson has been out of action since last month's defeat to Leeds United, with both a knee injury, and a recent htigh problem keeping him out of the side.

But second-choice goalkeeper, Kelle Roos has stepped up to the plate for Lampard's side, and will be hoping he can build on some impressive recent displays.

Lampard admitted that he isn't surprised by Roos' good run of form, that has seen Derby remain within touching distance of the play-offs.

"I'm not surprised, because I've seen Kelle train and I've seen how professional he is," said Lampard. "So I didn't expect anything bad from him."

So, Roos is expected to start against relegation-threatened, Ipswich Town on Wednesday evening, and he'll be hoping to build on his recent impressive run in the Derbys side.

If he can do that, then it will be difficult to see Carson getting back into starting XI ahead of Roos when he does return to the first-team picture.

The Verdict:

This isn't much of a blow for Derby.

Carson hasn't been in very good form for the Rams earlier this season, and Kelle Roos has proven that he is a more than worthy replacement.

Although his experience is useful, I can't see Carson forcing his way back into the starting XI when he does eventually return from injury.
