Reading signed Pele on-loan from AS Monaco in the summer.

Last summer was a fairly impressive one from Reading's perspective - as well as Pele arriving from Monaco, George Puscas also joined from Inter Milan, in a club-record transfer fee.

But despite acquiring from some of Europe's biggest teams, Reading have ultimately struggled, and after last night's 3-0 defeat at home to Wigan, Mark Bowen's side now sit just five points above the drop.

We asked Reading fans of the Facebook group 'Reading FC 1871' whether they think Pele's stay should be made permanent in the summer.

The 28-year-old has so far made 26 appearances in the Championship, becoming a main stay in the midfield with some consistent performances, having improved throughout the campaign - he's come under the spotlight at times this season, but has impressed overall.

Plenty of Reading fans reacted to the debate on whether Bowen should sign him permanently in the summer, and here's what they had to say:

Ian Webb: Yes yes yes.

Darren Butler: Definitely has the potential to help the midfield tick over.

Sue Mears: I was doubtful at first but he's just got better and better. Definitely keep him.

Shane Adams: He's not done much wrong to be honest, might be worth a deal.

John Hall: Quality.

Mal Hinton: Sell Swift and buy Pele.

Samuel Wainwright: Definitely.
