The door is open for Nottingham Forest to make a move for Sheffield United's Luke Freeman on loan, as per Alan Nixon.

Things haven't gone to plan for Freeman since becoming United's first signing of the summer last season, with the playmaker making just three league starts for the Blades and featuring only 11 times in total.

The 28-year-old arrived from Queens Park Rangers on the back of scoring eight goals and chipping in with six assists in the 2018/19 Championship season, and he has proven to be a quality player at that level.

Quiz: Can you name where each of these 14 ex-Nottingham Forest players are playing now?

According to Alan Nixon, Chris Wilder could be set to let Freeman leave Bramall Lane on loan this summer, leaving the door open for Nottingham Forest to make a move.

Freeman has been heavily linked with a move to the City Ground in an exchange deal for Matty Cash, who has emerged as a target for the Blades.

The Blades have been linked with a £4m move to the full-back plus the choice of two players, with one of them likely to be Freeman given his lack of game time thus far.

Sabri Lamouchi has wasted no time in bolstering his squad with the signings of Jack Colback, Tyler Blackett, Lyle Taylor and Fouad Bachirou this summer, but you feel that more creativity is needed.

Freeman has stood out in the Championship before, and his ability to score goals and create chances has made him a really desirable target for the Reds faithful.
