After a reasonable start to the season, Sheffield Wednesday's season has took a significant turn for the worst in the past week.

The defeat in the Steel City derby has cranked the pressure up on Carlos Carvalhal and a loss to Birmingham City last night has made things worse.

With another huge game against Leeds United on Sunday, you're starting to wonder if the Portuguese manager can survive another home defeat to a big rival.

However, whether he is in charge or not, major changes will have to be made to the squad in January.

The team look light in all areas of the pitch and whilst they've not been helped with injuries to key players like Sam Hutchinson and Fernando Forestieri, the Owls should be performing better.

Carvalhal will be looking to add in various positions, particularly centre-back and could raise funds by getting these two players off the books.

Adthe Nuhiu

The 28-year-old is getting nowhere near the starting eleven at Sheffield Wednesday.

It makes sense for Carvalhal to offload the forward in January, as it's evident he's not good enough to hold down a regular starting spot.

Jordan Rhodes

It's been a nightmare spell for Rhodes at Hillsborough since he made the big-money move, with three goals in 28 league appearances, although many came as sub.

It seems apparent that Wednesday will have to cut their losses, but they should be more than prepared to do so given the wages he's likely to be on.

In the window, Carvalhal should be looking for a different type of attacker, with Rhodes, Steven Fletcher and Gary Hooper all fairly similar, and the former Middlesbrough man is the biggest under-performer of the lot.
