‘Yawn’, ‘Why does this not surprise me?’ – Many Portsmouth fans frustrated by transfer update

Portsmouth are reportedly expecting lots of talking but not too much action when it comes to transfers this week, which has drawn a frustrated response from many fans of the South Coast club.

Pompey are preparing for another season of League One football after missing out on the play-offs in 2020/21.

Despite that disappointment, Danny Cowley has been handed a new long-term deal ahead of what will be his first transfer window since taking charge at Fratton Park.

It seems there is unlikely to be much movement from a transfer perspective over the next week, however, as Andrew Moon from the BBC has reported that the South Coast club are expecting plenty of talking this week but not too much in terms of action.

Cowley does have some work to do on his squad after it was confirmed earlier this month that six players – Andy Cannon, Charlie Daniels, Jordy Hiwula, Bryn Morris, Taylor Seymour, and Duncan Turnbull – were all set to leave the club when their current contracts expire this summer.

What club do these 21 former Portsmouth players ply their trade at now?

Which club does Brett Pitman play for nowadays?

With George Byers, Rasmus Nicolaisen, Lewis Ward, and Harvey White all returning to their respective parent clubs at the end of their loan moves as well, the Pompey squad could look very different next season.

It seems supporters may have to wait for some new arrivals, which has drawn a frustrated response from many fans of the club.
